and make sure everything is securely fastened, such as the grille, bumper, license plate, mirrors, fenders, wipers, spoiler, battery, fuel cap, and tailpipe. Check that the air, wiring and ABS are connected correctly and not twisted or damaged. Inspect the wheels and tires to make sure there are no worn spots, the grip depth is good and the wheel nuts are tight. Also check that the splash prevention device is clean of dirt Check the brake discs. They must be in good condition and not cracked.
Check under the vehicle for signs of leaks. This could be an oil, fuel or water leak. Check for damage to the outer curtain or panels and make sure the trailer contour markers are securely attached. Check the trailer hitch It has a safety locking device so it doesn't come loose. Check the airbag – that's your car's suspension – and see if it's in place and securely attached. Check that the trailer stabilizer leg is secure and inspect the vehicle understeer bar and chassis underneath. Before getting into the cab, check that the steps and handrails are secure. When you enter the cabin, make sure nothing is loose and you have a clear view, including from the mirrors. Check for cracks in the windshield and that the wipers and fluid devices are working. Make sure the driver's seat is in the correct position and is stable. Check the seat belt for signs of cuts, chafing and other damage. Buckle it up and see if it works. Look at the dashboard; you should try different items like the hazard light switch as well as the headlights.
You may need to ask someone to inspect these lights from the outside. Check that the pressure gauges work and light up. Check the steering wheel for damage. Next, check the dash and horn levers. Make sure the shift lever is safe to use and the parking brake is in the ON position. Check the pedals and make sure your feet are not slipping on them and that there is no debris on and around the pedal floor.
Test the brakes and keep an eye on the air pressure gauges. If they drop, this could be a sign of an air leak. Also check that the tachograph is working and that your vehicle's height indicator is positioned correctly so that you can see it. If you detect a malfunction, report it and do not leave the vehicle. An unsafe vehicle can cause death and serious injury. If you drive a car with faults, you can be fined up to £1,500 depending on the number of faults.
