Hello I'm Chris. In this video we're going to see Perry take a mock driving test. Meet Perry. He's only had two hours of driving on private land and seventeen hours of semi-intensive driving lessons. Already he feels confident enough without any help and take a mock driving test. This mock test will give him a rough idea of what it's like to drive on your own and what to expect from a real driving test.
You're allowed up to fifteen driving faults during the test, often called minor faults. More than that, or a serious or dangerous fault would be a test fail. If you persistently keep getting the same driving fault then it would turn into a serious fault and no more faults will be recorded in that category. I'm going to be testing perry's reversing skills with a reverse round a corner manoeuvre. About ten minutes of independent driving. And various roads and traffic conditions. Perry's completed the eyesight test and is about to answer the vehicle safety questions. Could you identify and explain how you would check the coolant. The coolant is there. To check it, you would make sure that it's in between the minimum and maximum which is shown on the side. Be careful when opening it as it's pressurised. It could come out and burn you.
OK, that's great. You can close the bonnet now. Thanks. Tell me how would you know that you have a problem with your ABS. To check the ABS. You would turn the ignition on and a light would appear on the dash. You'll see a little ABS sign. If it stay's on then you should go and get it checked as soon as possible, but usually it would disappear if there isn't anything wrong. OK, fine. Before you drive off, the examiner will say "Throughout the drive continue ahead, unless traffic signs direct you otherwise, and when I want you to turn left or right I will tell you in plenty of time". Start the car when you're ready. Drive on when you're ready. At the end of the road turn right please. At the roundabout turn right, third exit. At the roundabout turn left, first exit please. Take the next road on the left please. Stop on the left in a safe place please. I'd like you to reverse into this road on the left. Drive past it, stop on the left and then reverse into it keeping reasonably close to kerb please.
When you're ready. You can stop there, that's fine. Drive on when you're ready. Turn right at the end of the road please. Stop on the left in a safe place please. I'd like you to drive independently now. Would you prefer to see a diagram or would you like verbal directions? I don't mind. At the end of this road turn right.
At the roundabout turn left, first exit. OK, so that would be, at the end of this road turn right and at the roundabout turn left first exit. I'll then give you some further instructions. Drive on when you're ready please. At the roundabout I would like you to follow the sign towards Purley. You will need the right hand lane for this. I'd now like you to follow he signs towards Shirley until I tell you otherwise please. That's the end of the independent driving. I'll direct you from here. At the roundabout turn right, third exit please. Take the next road on the right please. I'd like you to stop on the left reasonably close behind that silver car please. Leave yourself enough room to get back out. You can ignore the driveways just for now.
Drive on when you're ready please. At the end of the road turn left please. Stop on the left in a safe place please. Drive on when you're ready. At the end of the road turn left and then turn right please. Stop on the left in a safe place please. You can ignore the driveways just for now. You can switch off now. Perry passed his mock driving test with five driving faults. After a few more driving lessons he also went on to pass his driving test. Congratulations Perry! And a big thanks for being brave enough to be filmed. Remember that passing your driving test is really just the beginning to becoming a safe driver. You never really stop learning and gaining experience on the road. Hope you found this video helpful. If it was, then don't forget to subscribe as it helps us to make more videos.
Stay safe on the road and thanks a lot for watching..
